Training for Selectors Involved in Speciality Selection

This e-learning module has been designed for selectors directly involved in speciality selection processes. This module is designed to both support the training of consultants who are new to selecting and provide a refresher for experienced selectors.

The elearning module is structured into two core sections

Core Section 1: Key skills required for selection assessment across all specialities
Core Section 2: Interviews: Background and practice of conducting assessments

Following completion of the modules there is a certification of your learning. This consists of two parts:

Throughout Core Sections 1 and 2, you will be asked to certify that you have read and understood the information.
Core Section 2 consists of assessing sample interview questions and calibrating your responses. If you proceed through these exercises satisfactorily you will receive a certification of learning.

Section 1 will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and Core Section 2 will take approximately 40 minutes to complete. However, please bear in mind that these times will vary depending on how quickly you move through the material.

There are also three optional modules which selectors are offered the opportunity to complete.

Optional Extra A: Key concepts underpinning selection and assessment
Optional Extra B: Familiarisation of documentation relevant to selection
Optional Extra C: Beyond Interviews: Interactive and desk-based exercises

These extra modules are optional and do not contribute to the certification of learning. These sections may be particularly relevant for selectors who have not been involved in selection previously or for selectors who are involved in assessing interactive exercises.

You are provided with the flexibility to save your progress and exit the tool at any point. On your return, you will be taken back to this point to resume work. We recommend that you make use of this facility.
